This was my third tattoo and probably the most meaningful to me.

I adore Marilyn Monroe, I think she was a very inspiring woman for her time. The quote I have on my leg is:
“I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure.
I make mistakes. I am out of control
and at times hard to handle.
But if you can’t handle me at my worst
then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.”

This is just a reminder that I am not perfect, but that is why I should embrace it, as no one is. I have my bad moments and good moments and if people aren’t going to stick around through them, then they sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.

Sometimes you wake up. Sometimes the fall kills you. And sometimes, when you fall, you fly.

If I’m going to put words on my body, I want people to be able to read it easily and understand it. This phrase truly speaks to me. It inspires me every time I read it, and I want it to inspire other people too. I was born in the month of May when the cherry blossoms start to bloom. Part of my Vietnamese name “Xuan” also means springtime. I wanted a different, more realistic take on the cherry blossoms rather than the traditional ones. This motherfucker hurt like a bitch, especially being on the ribs. This is my sixth tattoo, and certainly the one I like best. I always liked peanuts, and I identify a lot with Charlie. And of course, I have those friends who are always around. Just as these three. Not exactly a story behind. I just love it and makes me feel good knowing I have this in my body for life. My very first tattoo! My boyfriend showed me a picture he found online of “Why you should always sleep with a teddybear”. I fell in love with it immediately, and knew it needed to be put on my body. However, I wanted to tweak it to make it personal. When I was about 14, I fell into a really deep depression and started seeing shadows. It would get especially bad as I was laying in bed, in the dark, at night. I wanted the monster in my tattoo to symbolize the shadows that I always saw. In a way, my tattoo keeps me protected from the shadows that I still see. My teddybear is forever tattooed on my body to keep me safe. I had it done by Lauren McKenzie at Bound By Design in Denver, Colorado. She did such an amazing job! And it only took a little over an hour.

some of my fondest childhood memories are of my dad singing the tom petty song “wildflowers” to me while i danced on the sidewalk at the end of the day. the lyrics are also very relevant to my outlook on life and my personality :)

This was my 8th tattoo, and easily my favorite one to date. I saw the image on a Postsecret, which I look at religiously every Sunday for new posts, and even though the exact secret didn’t have much to do with me, I just loved the picture. It was just a little stamp on the middle of the postcard. I new I wanted a tattoo of it, and I think I chose the best spot for it. Also, the tattoo artist is married to one of my best friends, so it was just a lot of fun to get in general.
